AI funding · Belgium

AI funding for SMEs, without the closed schemes.

As of 3 November 2026, most AI-specific schemes are closed or suspended. This page lists what is actually open, what each scheme covers, and an estimate of your net cost. Every link goes to the official source.

What is open today

Three direct grants and one tax advantage remain available. The schemes built specifically for AI are closed or suspended. That is the first thing to know before you build a project around an announced subsidy.

Scroll the table horizontally.

Scheme Region Status What it covers
Cybersecurity voucher Wallonia Open 75% of costs, capped at €50,000 excl. VAT over 3 years. Audit, hardening and protection of systems. Labelled provider required.
Digitalisation grant Brussels Open 25 to 70% of costs, capped at €10,000 per year, two assignments per year. Process digitalisation, IT security, technical improvement of the website. Apply before the assignment starts.
kmo-portefeuille Flanders Open 30% for small companies, 20% for medium-sized ones, capped at €7,500 per year. Since February 2026, general consultancy is no longer eligible; training and cybersecurity remain covered.
Digital investment deduction Federal Open The base deduction is raised to 20% for digital fixed assets held by small companies and sole traders. This is a tax advantage, not a grant. Confirm with your accountant.
Digital maturity voucher Wallonia Suspended Suspended since 12 July 2026. No new applications. The scheme is being redesigned, with AI named as a priority.
Consultancy grant Brussels Suspended Suspended since 12 August 2026, along with the Training, Recruitment and Coworking grants. Applications filed before that date are still processed.
Innoviris Start AI Brussels Suspended No new projects funded in 2026. Applications already submitted may be funded in 2027 depending on available resources.
Start IA Wallonia Closed Call closed on 30 September 2026. No new call announced so far. 50% of fees, capped at €5,000.
Tremplin IA Wallonia Closed Call closed on 17 July 2026. No new call announced so far. 50% of fees, capped at €20,000.

What this means for an AI project

An AI diagnostic or PoC

No AI-specific scheme is open today in Wallonia or Brussels. Do not start a mission counting on aid that no longer exists. Fund the framing yourself, or wait for the next call with the file ready.

A cybersecurity project

In Wallonia, the cybersecurity voucher remains the highest rate in the scheme: 75%, with a cap of €50,000 excl. VAT over three years. The audit is delivered by a labelled provider, and the mission has to be scoped before the application.

A digitalisation project

In Brussels, the Digitalisation grant remains open: 25 to 70% depending on your profile, capped at €10,000 per year. It covers process digitalisation, IT security and technical improvement of the website. The AI model itself is outside that scope.

Training and investment

The Training grant is suspended in Brussels. In Flanders, training remains covered by the kmo-portefeuille. At federal level, the 20% deduction applies to digital fixed assets, not to consulting fees.

Estimate your net cost

Four questions to see which aid applies, at what rate, and what you would still have to pay. The output is indicative: it applies published rates and caps, not the administration's decision.

Brussels uplifts

Indicative estimate, no contractual value. Caps are annual or shared over several years depending on the scheme. Always get confirmation before you start.

How I work with funding

I do not prepare a file without a mission behind it. The work starts with framing: what you want to achieve, what it costs, and what does or does not fall within an open scheme.

Then I tell you plainly whether I can deliver it directly. Some schemes require a labelled provider or an approved centre. Where that is not me, we go through a partner, or we choose another route.

Frequently asked questions

Can my AI project still be funded in 2026?

For an AI diagnostic or PoC, no: Start IA and Tremplin IA are closed, and Innoviris Start AI is suspended. Aid remains possible if the project is in fact a cybersecurity audit or a process digitalisation, and it then has to be scoped within that perimeter.

Must the aid be requested before the mission starts?

In Brussels, yes, the application must be filed before the mission starts, at the latest the day before. In Wallonia, the vouchers must also be requested before the service. A mission that has already started is no longer eligible.

Can several aids be combined?

The same expense cannot be funded twice. A project can be split into separate components. The aids also fall under the de minimis regime, with a cap of €300,000 over three years. Check the combination with the administration and your accountant.

Does the federal deduction stack with a regional grant?

The deduction applies to digital investments, not to consulting fees. It does not replace a regional grant and does not apply to the same type of expense. Have your accountant validate the structure before you invest.

Are you a labelled provider for the Walloon vouchers?

I do not claim that without checking. For schemes that require it, we look together at whether I can deliver or whether we need a labelled partner. Either way, you know before you sign.

What if my company is in France?

This page covers Belgium. French schemes are different, with their own portals and conditions. Tell me where you are, and we look at what actually applies.

Official sources

This page collects no personal data. It is not published by an administration. The information is indicative and checked on 3 November 2026; only the official regional sites and the SPF Finances are authoritative.

Could your project fit an existing scheme?

Describe your project in two lines. I will tell you what is open, what is not, and whether the work can be scoped to fit an existing scheme.
